"Favorite Originals" by "Big" Al Traynor (Country Artist from Ontario, Canada)

"Favorite Originals" by "Big" Al Traynor is a collection of diverse country songs selected from the many works of this musical veteran. Big Al has a timeless voice all his own and his personality is certainly the catalyst for his sound. From boogie woogie to spoken word to patriotic pride, Big Al delivers. The arrangements behind him are all complementary, with familiar sounds presented in a fresh way. The recording nicely represents all aspects of the sound equally, and each song is well polished. If you like a little boogie woogie, check out the opener "Barnyard Boogie". Its quirky lyrics and Surf/Doo-Wop flair satisfies foot tapping adults as well as fun hungry kids. "The Old D 18" is a touching little spoken word story based on a musicians love affair with instruments. Look for a great intimacy in the vocals on this one. "Funny Thing About Pride" wraps things up with a "down home" arrangement and another fun story. If you enjoy spoken word and country music, you'll enjoy this CD.

"11:11 Make A Wish" by Eric Stever (Rock/Instrumental artist from Canada)

"11:11 Make A Wish" by Eric Stever is an instrumental progressive rock album brought to you by a talented and versatile guitarist. Simply put, Eric wails. His sound is fiery, and his tone is one of the best we've heard. Aside from rocking you, Stever succeeds in giving you a taste of many of his influences. Don't try to predict what is coming next because it's not going to happen. It is also refreshing to hear an instrumental artist who has a great sense of musical mood to compliment their raw ability. The quality of production is very good and the band behind Eric really compliments him well. Highlights include "The Flu," with a killer lick, fat beat, rolling bass line and overall guitar awesomeness. "Guthrie" features some of Eric's best soloing and is backed by some quirky jazz elements. "Broken Angel " closes things out and will take you back to the classic metal days. Fans of instrumental music with electrying electric guitars will enjoy this collection.

"Hollywood Ending" by Frankie Whyte and the Dead Idols is pure angst ridden rock n' roll. There is no shortage of attitude with this very live-sounding EP. You feel as though you are in the in the front row at a sweaty, energetic rock show. Stunning electric guitar riffs, driving rhythms and gritty female vocals fuse to produce a very memorable sound. Furthermore, the song-writing on this album is very refined, making every one of these songs radio-ready. With highly melodic, soaring choruses, this band has managed to produce a collection laden with rock anthems. Favorites include the title track, "Hollywood Ending," with a KISS-esque guitar riff exploding out of the speakers. "Home" fills your ears with lovely noise and has a great fist-pumping rhythm. "Every Street Corner" by the Joel Lightman Band (Pop Artist from Ontario, Canada)

"Every Street Corner" by the Joel Lightman Band is an excellent, upbeat adult rock/pop album with a fresh and quirky sound. The band has a big full sound and tons of energy. The songs are all well written and filled with lots of melody and huge catchy choruses. The piano is a key instrument in this act as it serves as the catalyst for the arrangements and is the driving force of the sound. Think Ben Folds meets The Beatles. The songs are all radio ready and professionally produced. Highlights include the opener "Step it Up" with a rockin' piano progression, driving beat and all the qualities of a great single. "These Feelings" has a bit of a country vibe behind some nice piano work and features some well placed Beatles-esque changes. "My Sweetest Vice" hits hard with a pounding beat and persistent vocals. If you adult rock/pop music and bands such as Del Amitri, you'll enjoy this outstanding CD.
